SONATA EN RED MAJEUR | A small anthology of movement on applied arts

Since from the moment I started posting my métissages  – a sort of dialogues between fashion and contemporary jewellery – I was very fascinated by the idea of movement.

In music the concept of movement is provided by the use of tempo: a precise indication given by the composer about the speed of a piece: in applied arts, on the contrary,  the challenge consists in suggesting this idea by using different media or even forcing techniques as goldsmithing, enamelling or silversmithing; by manipulating materials and mastering them so elegantly that movement is detected immediately. Have you ever thought about the difficult of gaining this?

So, I started thinking of a métissage majeur, in order to give an idea of movement thru the use of connections between details and arts, as a sort of little anthology of beauty and….this is my Sonata en red majeur!

Why in red? Because red is tumultuous.

(Of course you can start your path from wherever you want, and try to find your own personal direction, but if you want to start from one precise point and finish to one another, here’s the “order” from above left).

Fin dal momento in cui ho iniziato a postare i miei métissages – una sorta di dialogo tra moda e gioiello contemporaneo – mi ha molto affascinato l’idea di movimento: come fluisce? Che ritmo si può donare ad una spilla o ad un taglio di un abito? Come gioca e si sviluppa?

In musica il concetto di movimento è fornito dall’utilizzo del tempo: un’indicazione precisa data dal compositore sulla velocità di un pezzo: nelle arti applicate, al contrario, la sfida consiste nel suggerire questa idea utilizzando diversi mezzi espressivi financo addirittura forzando le tecniche esecutive, come possono essere  l’oreficeria, l’uso degli smalti o manipolando materiali in modo talmente elegante che il movimento viene rilevato immediatamente. Avete mai pensato alla difficoltà di ottenere tutto ciò?

 Così, ho iniziato a pensare di un métissage majeur, al fine di dare un’idea di movimento attraverso l’uso di  connessioni tra i dettagli e le arti, come una sorta di piccola antologia di bellezza e interdisciplinarietà……e questa è la mia Sonata en  red majeur!

 Perché in rosso? Perché il rosso è tumultuoso ed è “il grande chiarificatore”, come lo definiva Diana Vreeland.
